Job Overview
The Credit Risk Manager will lead the assessment, monitoring, and mitigation of credit risk across the bank’s portfolio in the northern region of Mozambique. Reporting to the Head of Risk Management, you will develop risk policies, conduct portfolio reviews, and collaborate with business units to ensure sound credit decisions. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement credit risk policies and procedures aligned with regulatory standards.
- Conduct comprehensive credit assessments for new and existing corporate clients.
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify emerging risk trends.
- Prepare risk reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with loan officers to structure risk‑adjusted financing solutions.
- Lead stress‑testing exercises and scenario analyses.
- Provide training and guidance to junior analysts on credit risk methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with internal risk appetite and external regulatory requirements.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative abilities.
- Proficiency in credit risk modeling and financial statement analysis.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of Mozambican banking regulations and Basel standards.
- Advanced Excel and familiarity with risk management software.

- Fluency in English and Portuguese.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. A master’s degree or professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or PRM are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage.
Experience
Minimum of five years of experience in credit risk analysis, preferably within a banking environment in emerging markets. Prior experience in leading risk assessments and managing a team is preferred.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 250,000 to 400,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, along with performance‑based incentives.
