Job Overview

The Agroforestry Development Officer will lead initiatives to integrate tree-based farming systems into local agriculture, promoting biodiversity and soil health. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement agroforestry training programs for smallholder farmers
  • Conduct field assessments to evaluate land suitability for tree-crop integration
  • Collaborate with local cooperatives to establish community seedling nurseries
  • Monitor and report on the environmental and economic impact of agroforestry projects
  • Develop educational materials on sustainable land management practices

Required Skills

  • Expertise in agroforestry systems and permaculture principles
  • Strong project management and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Proficiency in GIS mapping for land use planning
  • Fluency in Portuguese and local regional languages

Education

Salary
