Job Overview
CIMMYT Mozambique is seeking a highly motivated Agricultural Value Chain Analyst to lead research and capacity-building efforts in optimizing agricultural value chains. This role will focus on identifying bottlenecks, improving market linkages, and promoting sustainable practices for smallholder farmers in Machaze and surrounding areas. The successful candidate will collaborate with local cooperatives, extension services, and private sector partners to drive measurable impact in rural livelihoods.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth analysis of maize and wheat value chains to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
- Design and implement interventions to strengthen market access, reduce post-harvest losses, and enhance farmer profitability.
- Facilitate training programs for farmers, cooperatives, and private sector actors on sustainable value chain practices.
- Collaborate with local governments and NGOs to align initiatives with national agricultural development priorities.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of value chain interventions using quantitative and qualitative methods.
- Produce reports, presentations, and policy briefs to communicate findings to stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in agricultural value chain analysis, with a focus on Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Strong analytical skills in data collection, interpretation, and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, GIS, SPSS).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency in both Portuguese and English.
- Knowledge of climate-smart agriculture and gender-sensitive approaches.
- Ability to work independently in remote rural areas with limited resources.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Economics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Master’s Degree preferred but not required.
Experience
- 3-5 years of professional experience in agricultural development, value chain analysis, or related roles.
- Previous work in Mozambique or neighboring countries is a strong advantage.
Salary
1,500,000 – 2,500,000 MZN per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
