Job Overview
This role focuses on designing and implementing sustainable tourism initiatives in Nampula, balancing economic growth with ecological preservation. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage community-based tourism programs that prioritize environmental conservation.
- Conduct feasibility studies for new tourism projects, assessing ecological and social impacts.
- Coordinate with local authorities to ensure compliance with national sustainability regulations.
- Design training programs for community members in hospitality, wildlife conservation, and eco-tourism practices.
- Monitor tourism-related carbon footprints and implement mitigation strategies.
- Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders, including investors and international partners.
Required Skills
- Expertise in sustainable tourism frameworks (e.g., Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria).
- Strong project management and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Proficiency in GIS or environmental impact assessment tools.
- Experience in grant writing for conservation or tourism development projects.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English; knowledge of local languages (e.g., Makhuwa) is an asset.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management, Environmental Science, or related field. Advanced certifications in sustainable tourism or conservation planning are preferred.
Experience
3-5 years in tourism development, community engagement, or environmental conservation. Experience in Mozambique or similar emerging markets is advantageous.
Salary
1,500,000 – 2,500,000 MZN per month, commensurate with experience.
