Job Overview

The Mine Safety Engineer will lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of safety protocols across Vale’s Beira mining facilities. This position is responsible for conducting risk assessments, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations, and fostering a culture of safety among all employees and contractors. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain comprehensive mine safety plans, procedures, and emergency response strategies.
• Conduct regular site inspections, hazard analyses, and incident investigations to identify and mitigate risks.
• Ensure compliance with Mozambique mining regulations, ISO standards, and Vale’s internal safety policies.
• Provide safety training and mentorship to operational staff, contractors, and new hires.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to integrate safety controls into equipment design and process workflows.
• Prepare detailed safety reports, metrics, and dashboards for senior management and regulatory bodies.
• Lead root‑cause analysis of incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Participate in community outreach programs to promote safety awareness in surrounding areas.

Education
