Job Overview

The Risk Management Analyst will join the Risk Management Department in Maputo, playing a pivotal role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial and operational risks across the bank’s portfolio. The analyst will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, develop risk models, and ensure compliance with local and international regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct quantitative risk assessments for credit, market, and operational exposures.
  • Develop and maintain risk measurement models, including Value at Risk (VaR) and stress testing frameworks.
  • Prepare detailed risk reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.
  • Monitor risk indicators and recommend mitigation strategies to protect the bank’s assets.
  • Collaborate with business units to embed risk awareness into product development and daily operations.
  • Support the implementation of the bank’s risk appetite framework and ensure adherence to policy.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, Python).
  • In‑depth knowledge of Basel III, IFRS 9, and local banking regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex risk concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager) or CFA are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Candidates should have 3‑5 years of experience in risk analysis, credit risk, market risk, or a similar function within a banking or financial services environment. Prior exposure to emerging markets, especially within Africa, will be viewed favorably.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 800,000 to SSP 1,200,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses and other incentives aligned with the bank’s hiring in Mozambique strategy.
