Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Aerospace Materials Engineer to join our specialized R&D team in Cuera. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive testing and analysis of advanced composite materials and metallic alloys used in helicopter components.
- Perform failure analysis on structural components to identify material degradation or manufacturing defects.
- Collaborate with design engineers to optimize material selection for weight reduction and increased durability.
- Develop and implement quality control protocols for incoming raw materials to ensure compliance with aerospace standards.
- Simulate environmental stress testing, including thermal cycling and high-vibration scenarios.
- Document all experimental results and technical reports for regulatory certification processes.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends in additive manufacturing and advanced material science.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and material modeling software.
- Deep understanding of non-destructive testing (NDT) methodologies such as ultrasonic and X-ray inspection.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets from material characterization tests.
- Excellent technical writing skills for documenting engineering specifications and compliance reports.
- In-depth knowledge of international aerospace material standards (e.g., AMS, ASTM).
- Strong project management skills to handle multiple research and testing timelines simultaneously.
Education
A Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or a closely related field is mandatory. A PhD in a specialized area of material fatigue or composite structures is highly preferred. Candidates must demonstrate a strong academic background in thermodynamics, solid mechanics, and chemical properties of advanced alloys.
Experience
A minimum of 5 to 7 years of professional experience in materials engineering within the aerospace or high-performance automotive sector is required. Proven experience in laboratory environments, specifically dealing with composite resin systems and high-strength titanium or aluminum alloys, is essential. Candidates should have a track record of working within highly regulated quality management systems.
Salary
The offered salary for this position is between 85,000 SSP and 125,000 SSP per annum, depending on the candidate’s level of expertise and technical specialization. This package is competitive and reflects the high level of technical skill required for this role.
