Job Overview

The Construction Project Engineer will play a pivotal role in planning, executing and supervising large‑scale construction projects in the Tete region. Reporting to the Project Manager, the engineer will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, ensure compliance with design specifications, manage budgets and timelines, and uphold the highest standards of health, safety and environmental performance. Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed engineering plans, schedules and cost estimates for construction activities.
• Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure seamless project execution.
• Monitor on‑site progress, conduct regular inspections and enforce compliance with safety regulations.
• Prepare and present technical reports, progress updates and risk assessments to senior management.
• Manage change orders, resolve technical issues and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Ensure all work adheres to local building codes, environmental standards and client specifications.
• Facilitate effective communication among project stakeholders to maintain alignment with project goals.
• Support procurement processes by reviewing technical specifications and evaluating vendor proposals.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and construction methodologies.
• Proficiency in project management software such as Primavera P6, MS Project or equivalent.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills in English and Portuguese.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage stakeholder expectations.
• Solid understanding of health, safety and environmental (HSE) regulations.
• Experience with budgeting, cost control and contract administration.
• Adaptability to work in remote locations and challenging environments.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a closely related discipline is required. Professional engineering registration or certification (e.g., PMP, PE) is highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in construction project engineering, preferably on large infrastructure projects within Africa. Demonstrated experience in managing multi‑million‑dollar contracts, supervising field teams and delivering projects on schedule and within budget is essential.

Salary

The position offers a competitive monthly salary ranging from SSP 350,000 to SSP 500,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be provided.
