Job Overview
The Logistics Network Optimization Specialist will play a pivotal role in designing and refining the movement of goods through our regional hubs. This is not a standard logistics role; it requires a deep understanding of mathematical modeling, spatial analysis, and economic variables to create the most efficient routes possible. You will be responsible for analyzing current transit times, fuel consumption, and warehouse throughput to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for cost reduction. As we expand our footprint in Mozambique, your insights will directly influence our capital expenditure decisions and service level agreements. We are looking for a professional who can translate complex data sets into actionable strategic plans. For more information on our global operations, please visit https://mozambiquejobsearch.com.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement advanced mathematical models to optimize multi-modal transport routes across Southern Africa.
- Analyze large datasets to identify inefficiencies in the current supply chain network and propose corrective actions.
- Collaborate with regional warehouse managers to synchronize inventory levels with transport schedules.
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses for new logistics nodes and distribution centers in the Mozambique region.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to transit time, fuel efficiency, and carrier performance.
- Work closely with the procurement team to evaluate the performance of third-party logistics providers.
- Integrate sustainability metrics into network design to minimize the carbon footprint of our transport operations.
Required Skills
- Expertise in supply chain modeling software and advanced statistical analysis tools.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, or R for data manipulation and predictive modeling.
- Deep understanding of international freight regulations and customs procedures in the SADC region.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with a focus on quantitative analysis.
- Advanced communication skills to present complex technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Education
A Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or a highly quantitative field is required. A Bachelor’s degree with significant specialized experience may be considered in exceptional cases. Professional certifications such as APICS (CSCP or CPIM) are highly desirable.
Experience
Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics network design, supply chain optimization, or industrial engineering. Proven experience working within a multinational logistics firm or a large-scale manufacturing environment is essential. Experience specifically within the African logistics market is a significant advantage. You should have a track record of successfully implementing optimization projects that resulted in measurable cost savings or efficiency gains.
Salary
The offered salary for this position is between 45,000 SSP and 65,000 SSP per month, depending on the candidate’s experience and technical proficiency. This is a competitive package designed to attract the best talent in the industry.
