Job Overview
The Network Planning Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, optimizing, and expanding MTN’s radio access network (RAN) across the Pemba region. This position involves detailed analysis of coverage maps, capacity forecasting, and coordination with field teams to implement network upgrades. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed radio network plans, including coverage, capacity, and frequency allocation for the Pemba region.
- Perform RF simulations and drive‑test analyses to validate network performance and identify optimization opportunities.
- Collaborate with civil engineering and construction teams to ensure timely and accurate site acquisition and deployment.
- Prepare technical documentation, cost estimates, and project timelines for network expansion projects.
- Coordinate with regulatory authorities to secure spectrum licenses and ensure compliance with national telecom standards.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) post‑deployment and propose corrective actions to improve service quality.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and interns.
Required Skills
- Proficiency with network planning tools such as Atoll, Planet, or Mentum.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex RF data.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Knowledge of LTE and emerging 5G technologies.
- Familiarity with Mozambique’s telecom regulatory environment.

Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in RF planning or network optimization are considered a strong advantage.
Experience
