Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and enforce network security policies, standards, and procedures aligned with MTN’s security framework.
  • Design, configure, and manage firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and other security appliances.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and risk analyses on network components.
  • Monitor security alerts, investigate incidents, and coordinate incident response activities.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and operations teams to integrate security controls into network design and rollout projects.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date documentation of security architectures, configurations, and incident reports.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers and operational staff on security best practices.
  • Stay informed about emerging threats, industry trends, and regulatory changes affecting telecommunications security.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, MPLS) and security technologies.
  • Hands‑on experience with firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet), IDS/IPS, SIEM platforms, and VPN solutions.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation.
  • Understanding of ISO 27001, NIST, and telecom‑specific security standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills for cross‑team collaboration.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple security projects simultaneously.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CISSP, CCNP Security, or CEH are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in network security, with a proven track record of securing large‑scale telecommunications environments. Experience with mobile network security, 4G/5G architectures, and regulatory compliance in Africa is a strong plus.

Salary
