Job Overview
This role is part of SNV’s commitment to advancing water security in northern Mozambique. The Water Resource Management Specialist will lead projects to improve freshwater availability, sanitation infrastructure, and climate resilience in Pemba and surrounding regions. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement water resource management strategies for rural communities
- Conduct hydrological assessments and feasibility studies for new water projects
- Collaborate with local governments and NGOs to secure funding and partnerships
- Monitor water quality and sanitation systems to ensure compliance with health standards
- Train community stakeholders in sustainable water usage and maintenance practices
Required Skills
- Expertise in water resource modeling and GIS mapping tools
- Proven project management experience in environmental sectors
- Strong analytical skills for data-driven decision-making
- Bilingual proficiency in Portuguese and English
- Experience working in remote or underserved regions
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Hydrology, or related field
- Master’s degree preferred but not required
Experience
- 3-5 years in water management or environmental consulting
- Previous work in Mozambique or other African countries is an advantage
Salary
2,500,000 – 3,500,000 MZN per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
