Job Overview
BirdLife International Mozambique is seeking a passionate and experienced Wildlife Habitat Restoration Specialist to lead habitat rehabilitation initiatives in Mueda. This role will focus on restoring degraded ecosystems, monitoring biodiversity, and collaborating with local stakeholders to ensure long-term conservation success. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement habitat restoration plans for degraded ecosystems in Mueda.
- Conduct field surveys to assess biodiversity health and track restoration progress.
- Collaborate with local communities to promote sustainable land-use practices.
- Coordinate with government agencies and NGOs on conservation initiatives.
- Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.
- Manage volunteer teams and train local staff in ecological restoration techniques.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in habitat restoration or ecological management.
- Strong knowledge of Mozambican biodiversity and conservation challenges.
- Proficiency in GIS and remote sensing tools for habitat analysis.
- Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work in remote field conditions with minimal supervision.
- Fluency in Portuguese and basic understanding of local languages.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or related field.
- Advanced degree (Master’s) in Conservation Biology preferred.
Experience
- 3–5 years of professional experience in conservation or environmental management.
- Previous work in habitat restoration projects in tropical ecosystems.
Salary
1,500,000 – 2,500,000 MZN annually, commensurate with experience.
