Job Overview
We are seeking a Digital Forestry Management Specialist to join our team in Gorongosa, Mozambique. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing digital solutions to support our forestry management efforts, including the use of remote sensing and GIS technologies.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in forestry, conservation, and digital technologies, as well as excellent communication and project management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement digital solutions to support forestry management efforts, including the use of remote sensing and GIS technologies.
- Collaborate with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to develop and implement sustainable forestry management practices.
- Conduct fieldwork to collect data on forest health, biodiversity, and other relevant indicators.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local partners and stakeholders to support our forestry management efforts.
- Provide technical assistance and training to local communities and government agencies on digital forestry management tools and techniques.
Required Skills
- Master’s degree in Forestry or related field.
- 8-12 years of experience in forestry management, conservation, or a related field.
- Strong background in digital technologies, including remote sensing and GIS.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English.
Education
The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Forestry or a related field from a recognized university.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have 8-12 years of experience in forestry management, conservation, or a related field, with a strong background in digital technologies, including remote sensing and GIS.
Salary
The salary for this position is 80,000 – 120,000 SSP per year, depending on experience.
