Job Overview

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Hydrogeology Consultant to lead complex groundwater investigations and modeling projects in the Gurué region. This role is critical for our environmental consulting division, as you will be responsible for assessing groundwater quality, quantity, and movement to support large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will act as a technical lead, overseeing field teams, managing client relationships, and ensuring that all hydrogeological assessments meet both local Mozambican regulations and international best practices. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical oversight for field-based data collection, ensuring high-quality sampling and data integrity.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, including Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and groundwater management plans.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients regarding all hydrogeological and groundwater-related inquiries.
  • Mentor junior hydrogeologists and technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
  • Ensure all project activities comply with Mozambican environmental laws and international sustainability standards.

Required Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in numerical groundwater modeling software such as MODFLOW or FEFLOW.
  • Expertise in interpreting complex geological and hydrogeological data sets.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously.
  • Exceptional technical writing skills for producing high-level scientific reports.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with diverse stakeholders, from field technicians to corporate executives.
  • In-depth knowledge of local environmental regulations and water management policies in Mozambique.

Education

A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science, or a closely related field is required. A PhD is highly preferred and will be considered an advantage for this senior-level position.

Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in hydrogeology, with a proven track record of leading large-scale environmental consulting projects. Experience in the mining or large-scale manufacturing sector is highly desirable. You must demonstrate experience in managing field teams and delivering technical solutions in remote or challenging environments.

Salary

Working Environment
