Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement ecotourism conservation plans that align with WWF’s objectives and Mozambique’s conservation goals.
  • Collaborate with local communities, government agencies, and tourism operators to promote sustainable tourism practices.
  • Conduct field assessments to monitor the impact of tourism on wildlife and habitats, and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Provide training and capacity-building support to local stakeholders on ecotourism best practices and conservation principles.
  • Contribute to the development of ecotourism policies and guidelines that support conservation and community development.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of conservation principles, ecotourism, and sustainable development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Portuguese and English; knowledge of local languages is a plus.
  • Experience in project management, conservation planning, and community engagement.
  • Ability to work in remote areas and travel extensively within Mozambique.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, Ecotourism, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience

At least 2-3 years of experience in conservation, ecotourism, or a related field. Experience working with local communities and government agencies is highly valued.

Salary

The salary range for this position is SSP 50,000 to 80,000 per month, depending on experience.
