Job Overview
The Financial Crime Investigation Analyst will be responsible for detecting, analyzing, and mitigating financial crime risks, including money laundering, fraud, and terrorist financing. Reporting to the Head of Risk & Compliance, you will work closely with internal stakeholders, external regulators, and law enforcement agencies to ensure that Standard Bank adheres to all applicable anti‑money laundering (AML) and counter‑terrorism financing (CTF) regulations. This position offers a unique blend of investigative work, data analytics, and strategic risk management, providing a comprehensive view of the bank’s compliance landscape. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze transaction data to identify patterns indicative of money laundering, fraud, or other illicit activities.
- Prepare and submit high‑quality Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) in Mozambique.
- Conduct thorough investigations, including gathering evidence, interviewing relevant parties, and documenting findings.
- Collaborate with the Legal, Audit, and Operations teams to implement corrective actions and mitigate identified risks.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of local and international AML/CTF regulations, ensuring the bank’s policies remain compliant.
- Assist in the design and delivery of AML training programs for staff across all business units.
- Support the development of risk‑based monitoring models and enhance existing detection algorithms.
- Participate in regulatory examinations and audits, providing required documentation and explanations.
- Generate regular reports for senior management, highlighting trends, emerging threats, and remediation status.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the bank’s compliance culture through proactive communication and stakeholder engagement.

Education

Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of experience in financial crime investigation, AML compliance, fraud detection, or a related field within the banking or financial services sector. Experience working with regulatory bodies in Mozambique or other African jurisdictions is advantageous.
Salary
