Job Overview
The Network Planning Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, optimizing, and expanding Huawei’s mobile and fixed‑line network infrastructure in Mozambique. Reporting to the Lead Network Architect, the incumbent will be responsible for end‑to‑end planning activities, including radio frequency (RF) design, capacity forecasting, and site acquisition coordination. This position offers a unique chance to work on large‑scale projects that directly impact connectivity for millions of Mozambicans, while collaborating with cross‑functional teams across engineering, operations, and regulatory affairs. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive RF planning and simulation using Huawei’s proprietary tools to ensure optimal coverage and capacity.
- Develop detailed network rollout plans, including site selection, equipment specifications, and deployment timelines.
- Collaborate with local operators, government regulators, and third‑party vendors to secure site permits and align with national spectrum policies.
- Perform cost‑benefit analyses and generate budget forecasts for network expansion projects.
- Lead performance monitoring and post‑deployment optimization to maintain service quality standards.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for senior management and stakeholder reviews.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge‑sharing initiatives within the network engineering department.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in RF planning software such as iBwave, Atoll, or Huawei’s Planet.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and translate them into actionable network designs.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities for interfacing with regulators and site owners.
- Project management experience, including timeline and resource coordination.
- Familiarity with 4G LTE and 5G NR technologies, as well as backhaul solutions.
- Fluency in English; Portuguese proficiency is highly desirable.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in network planning, such as Huawei Certified Network Planner (HCNP) or equivalent, are considered a strong advantage.
Experience
Applicants must have at least five years of hands‑on experience in telecom network planning, preferably within an international carrier or major equipment vendor environment. Demonstrated experience in both urban and rural network deployments across emerging markets will be highly valued.
Salary
