The successful candidate will lead complex groundwater modeling projects, oversee field investigations, and provide high-level technical advice to clients in the extractive and infrastructure sectors. This is a premier career opportunity in Mozambique for a professional who excels in both technical modeling and client-facing advisory roles. You will be responsible for managing the lifecycle of hydrological assessments, from initial site characterization to the final reporting and regulatory compliance monitoring. This position requires a deep understanding of hydrogeological processes and the ability to translate complex data into actionable management strategies for large-scale industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complex groundwater modeling and hydrogeological site investigations.
- Develop comprehensive groundwater management plans for large-scale industrial and mining clients.
- Supervise junior and mid-level hydrologists and field technicians during site campaigns.
- Prepare high-quality technical reports for regulatory submission and client review.
- Provide expert technical advice to clients regarding water scarcity and flood mitigation strategies.
- Ensure all field activities comply with local environmental regulations and international best practices.
- Collaborate with geotechnical and environmental engineers to integrate hydrological data into broader site models.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in numerical groundwater modeling software (e.g., MODFLOW, FEFLOW).
- Expertise in interpreting complex hydrogeological data and isotopic analysis.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple client accounts simultaneously.
- Excellent technical writing skills for producing regulatory-grade reports.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in challenging field environments.
- Strong communication skills for presenting technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.

Experience
Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 to 7 years of professional experience in hydrogeological investigations and groundwater modeling. Proven experience working within the African regulatory framework or on large-scale international environmental projects is essential. Experience in coastal aquifer management and saltwater intrusion modeling is highly desirable.
