Job Overview
The Senior Petroleum Geologist will be a key technical expert within our exploration team in Pemba. This role involves high-level seismic interpretation, reservoir modeling, and geological risk assessment to support our offshore exploration activities. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers and geophysicists to identify new hydrocarbon prospects and optimize existing field development plans. Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex seismic interpretation and geological modeling for offshore exploration projects.
- Perform detailed petrophysical analysis to characterize reservoir properties.
- Collaborate with reservoir engineers to integrate geological models into dynamic simulation workflows.
- Assess geological risks and uncertainties associated with drilling and production activities.
- Supervise junior geologists and provide technical mentorship within the exploration department.
- Prepare and present technical reports for senior management and stakeholders.
- Ensure all geological activities comply with international safety and environmental standards.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Petrel, DecisionSpace, or similar geological modeling software.
- Deep understanding of sedimentary basin analysis and structural geology.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex 3D/4D seismic data.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects in remote offshore environments.
- Strong commitment to HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) protocols.
Education
Candidates must possess a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Geology, Petroleum Geoscience, or a closely related Earth Science discipline. A PhD is highly preferred for this senior-level technical position.
Experience
A minimum of 7 to 10 years of professional experience in petroleum geoscience, specifically within offshore exploration environments. Proven track record of successful prospect identification and reservoir characterization is essential. Experience working in East African offshore basins is a significant advantage for this role.
Salary
The offered salary range for this position is 120,000 to 180,000 SSP per month, depending on experience, qualifications, and technical expertise. This is a competitive package designed to attract the best talent in the industry.
