Job Overview

This role is part of a strategic initiative to integrate sustainable mobility systems with urban development in Lichinga. The specialist will design and implement projects that reduce carbon emissions, enhance public transportation accessibility, and promote inclusive urban growth. The position requires collaboration with local governments, NGOs, and private sector stakeholders to ensure solutions are culturally relevant and economically viable.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute urban mobility plans that prioritize pedestrian and cycling infrastructure.
• Conduct feasibility studies for green transportation projects, including electric vehicle charging networks.
• Coordinate with municipal authorities to align projects with national climate action frameworks.
• Monitor and evaluate the environmental and social impact of urban mobility initiatives.
• Provide technical guidance on sustainable road design and traffic management systems.

Required Skills

• Expertise in urban mobility modeling software (e.g., PTV Visum, AIMSUN).
• Proven experience in designing low-carbon transportation systems.
• Strong analytical skills for assessing urban sustainability metrics.
• Fluency in Portuguese and English.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and cross-cultural communication abilities.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or related field. A Master’s Degree in Sustainable Development or Public Policy is highly advantageous.

Experience

Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in urban mobility planning, with a focus on sustainability. Prior work in African urban contexts is preferred.

Salary

200,000 – 300,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience.
