Job Overview

As a Renewable Energy Community Engagement Officer, you will lead initiatives to build trust and collaboration between IFC’s renewable energy projects and local communities in Mocuba. This role is critical to ensuring that solar and wind energy developments align with community needs, cultural values, and environmental sustainability goals. The position requires a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement, impact assessment, and long-term partnership building.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct community outreach programs to educate residents about renewable energy projects and their benefits.
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings with local leaders, NGOs, and government agencies to address concerns and gather feedback.
  • Monitor and report on community impacts of energy projects, ensuring compliance with IFC’s environmental and social safeguards.
  • Design and implement strategies to enhance community participation in project planning and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to integrate community insights into project design and operations.

Required Skills

  • Proven expertise in community engagement, conflict resolution, and cross-cultural communication.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies and their socio-environmental implications.
  • Ability to conduct field research, analyze data, and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and local languages (e.g., Teteve, Nyanja) is highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency in using GIS tools for mapping community demographics and project sites.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree is a plus.

Experience

3-5 years of experience in community development, project management, or stakeholder relations within the energy or infrastructure sectors. Prior work in rural Mozambique or similar contexts is preferred.

Salary

1,500,000 SSP – 2,500,000 SSP per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
