Job Overview

The Downhole Operations Supervisor will lead a team of field engineers and technicians responsible for the safe and efficient execution of downhole activities, including well interventions, logging, and completion operations. This role is critical to maintaining production targets, optimizing well performance, and ensuring compliance with ENI’s rigorous safety and environmental policies. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all downhole operations, ensuring adherence to project schedules and safety standards.
  • Plan and execute well interventions, logging, and completion activities in collaboration with drilling engineers.
  • Monitor real‑time data from downhole tools to make informed decisions that optimize well performance.
  • Manage on‑site resources, including personnel, equipment, and consumables, to achieve cost‑effective operations.
  • Conduct regular safety briefings, risk assessments, and toolbox talks with the field team.
  • Ensure compliance with ENI’s HSE policies, local regulations, and international industry standards.
  • Prepare detailed operational reports, performance metrics, and post‑operation analyses for senior management.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, technology adoption, and efficiency gains.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians, fostering skill development and knowledge transfer.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of downhole equipment.

Required Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge of downhole tools, well intervention techniques, and completion engineering.
  • Proven leadership and team‑management abilities in a high‑pressure environment.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills with the ability to make quick decisions based on real‑time data.
  • Effective communication skills in English; Portuguese proficiency is an advantage.
  • Solid understanding of HSE regulations and best practices in oil and gas operations.

  • Proficiency with industry software such as WellView, Petrel, or similar platforms.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in well intervention, HSE, or project management are considered a plus.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in downhole operations within the oil and gas industry. Experience in offshore environments, particularly in the Southern African region, will be highly valued.
