The Heavy Equipment Maintenance Supervisor will lead a team of technicians responsible for the upkeep, repair, and optimization of Caterpillar’s fleet of construction machinery operating throughout Mozambique. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for a diverse fleet of Caterpillar equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, and loaders.
  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate a team of 8‑12 maintenance technicians, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical failures, ensuring rapid return to service.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, parts inventory, and compliance documentation in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate with procurement to source genuine parts and manage cost‑effective inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with project managers to schedule maintenance activities that align with construction timelines and minimize project disruptions.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, toolbox talks, and training sessions to uphold a zero‑incident workplace.
  • Analyze equipment performance data to identify trends, recommend upgrades, and implement reliability‑centered maintenance strategies.

Required Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of Caterpillar equipment specifications, service manuals, and diagnostic tools.

  • Proficiency in interpreting technical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and electrical wiring diagrams.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required. Relevant certifications such as Caterpillar Certified Technician (CCT) or equivalent heavy‑equipment maintenance credentials are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience in heavy equipment maintenance, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or lead role. Experience working on large‑scale construction or infrastructure projects in Mozambique or the broader Southern African region is preferred.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 250,000 to SSP 350,000 per month, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and performance. Additional performance‑based incentives may be offered.
