Job Overview
The Credit Risk Analyst will play a pivotal role in assessing the creditworthiness of corporate and individual borrowers, ensuring that Banco BCI maintains a healthy loan portfolio while complying with regulatory standards. Reporting to the Head of Credit Risk, the analyst will conduct detailed financial analyses, develop risk models, and provide actionable insights to underwriting teams. Candidates will work closely with cross‑functional teams, including Credit Operations, Compliance, and Business Development, to deliver high‑quality risk assessments that align with the bank’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive credit analysis of loan applications, including financial statement review, cash flow modeling, and industry benchmarking.
- Develop and maintain credit risk rating models, scorecards, and risk dashboards to support decision‑making.
- Prepare detailed credit memorandums and present findings to senior management and credit committees.
- Monitor existing loan portfolios for early warning signs, covenant compliance, and potential deterioration.
- Collaborate with the Compliance department to ensure adherence to Basel III, local banking regulations, and internal risk policies.
- Assist in the development of credit policies, risk appetite statements, and stress‑testing frameworks.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior analysts and credit officers on risk assessment techniques.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of credit risk processes through data analytics and automation.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with proficiency in financial modeling.
- Excellent knowledge of banking products, credit risk concepts, and regulatory requirements.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, Python) is a plus.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex risk findings clearly.
- Attention to detail, high integrity, and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
- Team‑oriented mindset with a collaborative approach to problem‑solving.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or CPA are advantageous but not mandatory.
Experience
Applicants should have 3–5 years of experience in credit risk analysis, loan underwriting, or financial analysis within a banking or financial services environment. Experience with corporate lending, SME financing, or exposure to emerging market economies is highly valued.
Salary
