Job Overview

The Financial Analyst – Renewable Energy will support EDP’s finance department by providing rigorous financial modeling, budgeting, and performance analysis for ongoing and upcoming renewable projects in Mozambique. The role involves close collaboration with project managers, engineers, and senior executives to ensure accurate forecasting, cost control, and profitability assessment. You will be responsible for preparing detailed reports that inform strategic decisions, evaluating investment opportunities, and monitoring key financial metrics against industry benchmarks. This position plays a critical part in driving the financial health of EDP’s renewable portfolio, contributing directly to the company’s mission of delivering clean, reliable energy to the people of Mozambique.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain financial models for solar, wind and hydro‑electric projects, incorporating capital expenditures, operating costs and revenue projections.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, variance analyses and management reports for senior leadership.
  • Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct cost‑benefit analyses for new investment opportunities and provide recommendations based on risk‑adjusted returns.
  • Monitor project cash flows, track key performance indicators and flag any deviations from planned financial targets.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather data, validate assumptions and support contract negotiations.
  • Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, tax regulations and internal control policies.

Required Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling software; experience with SAP or Oracle is a plus.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data sets and present actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Portuguese proficiency is highly desirable.
  • Detail‑oriented approach with a solid understanding of renewable energy market dynamics.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint for creating executive‑level presentations.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related discipline is required. Candidates holding professional certifications such as CFA, CPA or ACCA will be given preference, reflecting EDP’s commitment to high‑standards of financial expertise.

Experience

Applicants should possess at least three to five years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting or corporate finance, preferably within the energy sector or a related infrastructure industry. Salary
