This role focuses on designing and implementing marine spatial planning frameworks to resolve conflicts between coastal development, conservation, and resource extraction. Key Responsibilities

• Develop marine spatial plans integrating ecological, economic, and social data
• Conduct stakeholder consultations with fishing communities, tourism operators, and government bodies
• Analyze geospatial data using GIS tools to map marine ecosystems and human activities
• Design conflict resolution strategies for overlapping marine resource uses
• Prepare policy recommendations for coastal zone management regulations
• Monitor and evaluate the environmental impact of maritime infrastructure projects

Required Skills

• Expertise in marine spatial planning methodologies and international best practices
• Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and marine mapping tools
• Strong analytical skills for interpreting oceanographic and ecological data
• Excellent communication abilities for stakeholder engagement
• Knowledge of Mozambican coastal legislation and international marine conservation agreements
• Experience in multi-stakeholder project management

Education

• Master’s Degree in Marine Biology, Environmental Science, Geography, or related field
• Certification in Marine Spatial Planning or Coastal Zone Management (preferred)

Salary

2,500,000 – 3,500,000 MZN per month, commensurate with experience
